Jul 2019. The independence park was built to celebrate the Turkmenistan independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. It was completed in 1996, and is a huge park 2km in length and 1km in width. We took a bus to the north entrance of the park, and walked towards the main independence monument, located in the southern section.
